Alumni Career Outcomes

As of the first semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 (February 2026), a total of 30 students have successfully graduated from the Executive Master's Program in Indigenous Studies.

Graduates are primarily employed in the public sector (47%), followed by the education sector (33%), non-profit and civil society organizations (17%), and the private sector (3%).

Since its establishment in 2019, the Executive Master's Program in Indigenous Studies, Department of Sociology, National Sun Yat-sen University, has continued to grow through a journey filled with challenges, learning, and achievement.

Throughout this journey, we have been privileged to welcome Indigenous students from diverse communities and professional backgrounds, creating a vibrant and supportive learning community.

To strengthen connections among our alumni, current students, and Indigenous students across National Sun Yat-sen University, while fostering dialogue and action on Indigenous issues, the NSYSU Indigenous Alumni Association was officially established in 2025.

| Here They Are | Bulayu Indigenous Language

Our second graduating cohort alumnus, Chen Yung-Hsiang (Puljaljuyan, Paiwan), founded the Bulayu Indigenous Language online community dedicated to promoting the Paiwan language.

In Paiwan, "Bulayu" means "good." Its pronunciation happens to resemble the Mandarin phrase "bú lài yō" (pretty good), which inspired the community's name.

| Here They Are | Navalj: Voice of Austronesia

Our fourth graduating cohort alumna, Malivan Kawru (Puyuma), currently hosts Navalj: Voice of Austronesia on Alian Radio FM96.3, the Southern Regional Station of Taiwan Indigenous Radio.

The program invites Indigenous community members, scholars, and experts to share their experiences, perspectives, and stories, creating a platform for diverse voices and meaningful dialogue.
