Umav’s Salon

Asiyan is a young Paiwan Indigenous woman from Saijia Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, and currently works as a teacher at an Indigenous elementary school. During her recent visit to Smangus (Simaqkus), one of the experiences that left the deepest impression on her was realizing that children from different ethnic groups or tribes may have very different life experiences and paths of growth.

Recognizing “difference” is the beginning of empathy.

With so many heavy issues in the world recently, this episode moves away from criticism and anger. Instead, it focuses on self-awareness and reflection. More precisely, it is a relaxed and heartfelt conversation with Adu, without pressure or a fixed agenda. There may even be a little matchmaking along the way. This episode is especially suitable for listening before bedtime.
