We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join our Ministry of Education-funded project.

1. Work Location

The primary workplace is National Sun Yat-sen University (Kaohsiung, Taiwan).

Depending on project needs, the position may also involve:

  • Field visits to Indigenous communities
  • Student recruitment activities
  • Inter-university collaboration
  • International exchange visits and study trips

2. Salary

Employment will follow the relevant regulations of National Sun Yat-sen University, including a three-month probation period.

Starting monthly salary:

  • Bachelor's degree: NT$35,550
  • Master's degree: NT$42,230

Additional benefits include:

  • Year-end bonus equivalent to 1.5 months' salary (prorated according to the actual period of employment).

3. Appointment Period and Working Hours

Appointment Period

From the date of appointment (preferred start date: September 1, 2025) through July 31, 2026 (no later than September 30, 2026).

Renewal of the appointment will be considered based on project funding approval for the following academic year and the employee's performance.

Working Hours

  • Regular schedule:
    Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
    (One-hour lunch break)
  • During the academic semester, working days will normally be Tuesday–Saturday to accommodate the class schedule of the Executive Master's Program.
  • During winter and summer breaks, the schedule returns to Monday–Friday.

Working hours may occasionally be adjusted to support project activities, meetings, or special events.

4. Responsibilities

This position primarily supports the implementation of a Ministry of Education-funded project. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in the implementation of the annual project, including:
    • Field visits to Indigenous communities
    • Planning and coordinating inter-university and international collaborative activities
    • Budget management
    • Preparation of project reports
    • Editing and publication of academic books
    • Other project-related duties
  2. Assisting students with exhibitions related to their technical reports, including opportunities to document Indigenous communities and participate in exhibition planning and curation.
  3. Supporting activities organized by the Executive Master's Program, such as joint presentations with Indigenous graduate programs at other universities, as well as related administrative work.
  4. Managing and updating the program's official website and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook).
  5. Performing other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

5. Qualifications

We do not expect applicants to possess every qualification listed below. If you meet several of the following criteria, we encourage you to apply.

Applicants should preferably have:

  • A bachelor's degree or above
  • Indigenous status (preferred)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
  • Experience in university administration, budget management, or event planning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online tools such as Canva and Rpage
  • Basic English or Japanese communication skills
  • A valid driver's license and personal transportation (preferred)
  • An interest in Indigenous issues, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to public service
