Congratulations to Fifth-Cohort Students Lai Chun-Yen (Kingsai) and Salizan Takiludun for Their Outstanding Achievements in the 2025 National Student Music Competition – Kaohsiung City Preliminary Competition
Date: December 24, 2025
Fifth-cohort students of the Executive Master's Program in Indigenous Studies, Lai Chun-Yen (Kingsai, Bunun Indigenous) and Salizan Takiludun (Bunun Indigenous), represented National Sun Yat-sen University in the College Male Tenor Solo Division B of the 2025 National Student Music Competition – Kaohsiung City Preliminary Competition, and both achieved outstanding results.
Among them, Kingsai received the First-Class Award, while Salizan won First Place in the Excellence Award category, earning their qualification to represent Kaohsiung City in the national-level competition in 2026.
Both Kingsai and Salizan are members of the Nipun Choir. Kingsai currently serves at Baolai Junior High School, while Salizan serves as the director of the Nipun Choir.
Their life journeys have both been deeply influenced by the devastating Typhoon Morakot (Typhoon 88) disaster in 2009. Through their participation in the choir, however, they discovered new possibilities in life and began a new chapter of personal growth and development.
Beyond striving to balance their academic pursuits, family responsibilities, and professional careers, both students continue to give back to their hometown community by contributing their time and efforts as tutors at Nipun Learning Center.
This year, they also joined the Nipun Choir in representing Taiwan at the Tokyo International Choir Competition, where the choir achieved a Gold Award. Currently, both students have successfully completed the proposal submission stage of the Executive Master's Program and are actively preparing for their master's thesis oral defense.
Once again, we sincerely congratulate Kingsai and Salizan on their remarkable achievements and wish them continued success as they represent Kaohsiung City and National Sun Yat-sen University with excellence in the coming year.
